Description

Built in 1867 back up a “holler” in northeast Kentucky, the structure is still in use today although no longer as a school. It is believed the last classes taught here were in 1952. It has been used as a church and community meeting hall. It is representative of many such buildings of the 1880s.

The building originally had shake shingles; the roof is now ridged tin sheets.

The kit consists of laser cut basswood and 3D printed chimney, windows, doors, steps, and a choice of two foundation/sills: one flat, the other on 3D-printed rocks as shown in the prototype.

Uncut acetate is included for glazing; roofing material is not included. The prototype is constructed of 4½” clapboard siding. Laser-etched boards are also available at the same price: 6″ is standard.

Other laser-etched spacing may be available. Select “Lumber” on options and add note at checkout indicating your spacing preference.
Include email address for communication about your request.

This structure is of basic construction. The windows and doors are placed in pre-cut openings, the walls are joined at 90 degree angles, trim pieces are added, the roof is attached, and the chimney placed in the roof hole provided.
